JOINING US ON TWITTER
At one time Twitter was used almost exclusively for personal conversation. The business world, however, has recently discovered how effective a tool this online channel can be for sharing business-related information. The @turnerglobal Twitter stream now contributes towards the timely distribution of well-sourced news – in an unbiased and objective format, which has been packaged specifically for business professionals around the world.

If you haven’t yet joined the Twitter community, here are 3 quick-and-easy steps you can follow to create your own space in the world of “Twitter for Business”.

Step 1. Create a Twitter account

The first step is to visit www.twitter.com. Since you don't already have an account, the front page will display a form titled "New to Twitter?". Use the form to enter your full name, e-mail address, and a password for your account — and then click "Sign up for Twitter". When you enter your e-mail, remember that you can only link an address to one Twitter account.

After you click the Sign-up button, a new page will open. This is where you can select a username (using less than 15 characters). Your username is included in every message you post, so it may be wise to select a username that describes you and/or your interests. When you have verified your information, click 'Create My Account'. That's it ... now on to Step 2.

Step 2. Review account settings

Although the standard Twitter account configuration may work well for you, it may still be worth spending a few minutes to review your Settings. On the top right-hand side of the opening page of your account (next to the Tweet” button), there is a button that will open your account Profile and your Settings. Click on Settings from the drop-down menu.

Here is one example of a Setting that you may wish to change. Click on “Notifications” on the top left-hand side of your page and adjust your settings if you would like to see just the original @turnerglobal tweet messages and not the replies and comments. At the top of your timeline, you can choose between "All" or "People you follow". Click the second option to filter your Notifications. Now it's on to the final requirement, Step 3.

Step 3. Follow @turnerglobal

Now you are ready to follow the @turnerglobal Twitter stream, or any other stream – for that matter. At the top of your Twitter Home page you will see a Search window. Enter "turnerglobal" and click the search button. A brief summary of the @turnerglobal Twitter stream will appear below the Search window. Click on the "Follow" button and you're done.

It's just as easy to "Unfollow". Simply click on the title of an individual tweet and the author's title page will be displayed. Click on the "Following/Unfollow" button to stop receiving tweets.
